Meet the artist

I was born and raised in New England, and moved to the west coast more than a decade ago, and currently reside in Reno, Nevada.

During my professional career, I was a licensed dental professional working in public health and higher education. Yet, since I was a child, I have been drawn to "making things" - recognizing the impact of ingenuity and transformation in discovering what joy looks like for me.

I am a third-generation fiber artist, following in the footsteps of my mother, paternal grandmother, and great aunt. Growing up I was surrounded by fabric and fibers, beads and sequins, and I watched these women use materials to explore and create a linkage between aesthetics and utility in their work.

I began felting as a hobby, and soon found wool in its organic form to be dynamic - it can be transformed into infinite possibilities, which is one reason I enjoy working with this fiber. The foundation of felting, and especially wet felting, allows me to combine wool with other organic fibers of varying colors and textures and feel them unite into a one-of-a-kind sculpture or textile.

My work combines aspects of the beauty and uniqueness of nature as well as my environment. From the colors I choose to the textures and unique patterns I am able to create with wool and silk, the flora and the landscapes they inhabit play an integral role in what inspires me to discover what is behind the design. I am dedicated to life-long learning and I have had the privilege of taking classes and learning techniques from experienced fiber artists residing in the U.S. and abroad.

My designs are made from the highest quality wool, silk, and other fibers, mainly sourced from small farms across the U.S. If something I created has caught your eye, but it’s not quite what you are looking for, contact me and we can discuss a commissioned-piece felted just for you. And, if you want to learn more about felting, attend one of my workshops.
